It is very important for you to be able to understand any terms used in the description of a painting in which you are interested. I think it is important to be aware of what you wish to buy to avoid disappointment. To open a painting to find that it is not what you were hoping for is every bit as upsetting as openng a present at Christmas to find that batteries are not included.
